Ben Robinson 2014

Ben Robinson a short order cook by day at Say Cheese Philly and a freelance artist by night. He received his AFA from Montgomery County Community College, and just recently (May, 2013) a

BFA from UARTS. He produces a broad range of artwork ranging from doodle inspired ink drawings to psychological paintings that are heavily influenced by surrealism and abstraction. A common theme in Ben's work tends to deal with the relationship between contradictions and how they

simultaneously affect and defect scenarios. He executes this idea through contrasting colors, shapes, composition, objects, etc.. Ben started out his painting career doing more rendered paintings and

character driven compositions with a surreal edge to them. Recently, he's loosened up his painting technique and have been experimenting with abstraction ever since. Ben Robinson is influenced by

skateboarding, music and graffiti mostly but he's been discovering new influences in things like architecture, social issues, and people in general. Ben says"There's always new influences to be

discovered so I try to remain open and be aware of my surroundings while painting and in every day life".

Luckdog Essentia & Curios

Luckydog Essentia and Curios is operated out of Royersford, PA by Katie Lightcap, owner and entrepreneur, and Jason Peterson, co-owner and head of order fulfillment. We upcycle, repurpose, refinish and recycle! We hate throwing things away. Period.

I, Katie, majored in Graphic Design and Fine Art, and specialize in making useful arts and crafts that can be incorporated into everyday life. I almost never make the same thing twice and my favorite medium is collage and decoupage. I also make all of the soaps and scrubs.

Jason manages inventory, online sales and designs and builds almost all of the tile coasters and all of the tile tables. We both also have full time jobs, but are very proud to be able to say that in the past year Luckydog has improved and grown to full blown part time jobs for both of us.

For this year's Fun A Day, I will be making at least one art tile each day, using mixed media to create clever and humorous fully functional coasters. We will display these along with our normal tile inventory and everything will be available for purchase at the show.

2012 Lansdale Fun A Day was a huge success

The 2012 Lansdale Fun A Day Show at the Third and Walnut was an amazing time. Artists created something everyday during the month of January and showed it then in a huge group show with live music from, Blaze,

Mindblown,

and Brian Medlin.

The music kept people entertained after they had a chance to walk around and view the artwork.  Here is the Preshow interview that attracted a few of the Patrons. I was surprised at how successful this show was. Most artists sold artwork or at the very least made connections with new patrons. Besides showing our Fun A Day projects, we held a millionaire’s auction in which patrons bought tickets for $1 and entered the raffle to buy our artwork.

That was a lot of fun and will have to be utilized again. There was also a live painting created by Anthony T Forbes, Ben Robinson and Kim Saddel. I had never seen a group of people create a painting together, I want to see more of this. After the painting was completed it was auctioned off right on stage, it was very exciting! I made many connections with artists interested in doing more shows like this.  Lansdale Patch featured a follow up story/photo gallery declaring it a Huge Success!  Next year's Fun A Day show should be a blast, thank you for coming out and getting involved in the arts, if you want to be involved next year, you should. If you participated this year, I hope this has motivated you to have a very creative year.

Lansdale Fun A Day SHow 2012

Hello everyone,
The Lansdale Fun A Day Group show will be next Friday, Friday February 3rd 2012, 8pm at Lansdale's 3rd and Walnut. We will have musical performances from the talented Brian Medlin.
There will also be an artsy performance from the Art Clash group Sam and Corey
There may be other musicians playing as well but I'm still in the planning of last minute details.

For all artists involved: drop off of art work will be on Wednesday February 1st at the Third and Walnut beginning at 5pm through 9pm. Don't feel pressured to have 31 pieces of artwork, bring what you have completed and feel proud that you have accomplished so much. There will be display racks and tables available. If you are using a table, you may want to bring a table cloth since none will be provided. The artwork does not need to be framed but do consider how you will hang it. The owner does not want anything attached to his walls, the racks will have hooks and clips to use. There will be zero commission taken on any artwork sold. I will accept contributions towards the rental of the racks if anyone would like to help off set that cost. Hopefully this month of art has set your art machine into motion for the year.
Please e-mail me lansdalefunaday@gmail.com or message me on Face Book if you have any questions.
Thanks
Amy Rims

Featured Artist Holly Wilson

Joint compound and acrylic on wood by Holly Wilson

Local North Wales artist, Holly Wilson, was an art major in high school and attended MCCC for 1 semester. Most of her art education has been from artists she has encountered over the years and recently from research on the Internet. She is a multi medium artist using recycled materials for her paintings and projects.

Acrylic painting by Holly Wilson

Growing up, Holly would draw and color all the time. In elementary school, she became hooked on abstract painting and sculpture. She was lucky to have a grandfather who would bring home the reject paper from the New Hope Paper mill, in which he worked. She was never without  paper!  If only he had worked at the Kodak factory and could have brought home film, she would have pursued her interest in photography. Now that we are digital Holly is set, she tries to have her  camera with her all the time. Art and photography are her passion!

Featured Artist Anthony Thartis Forbes

Anthony Thartis Forbes, 24 of Norristown Pa is a freelance fine artist specializing in paintings, photography, wood work, and digital illustrations.

Anthony attended Montco and Uarts for art history and Illustration for two years in 2005. For 7 years He has pursued art heavily, hosting art shows for local artists and himself with musical acts serenading the crowd and live artists putting on a masterpiece of collaborations.

First starting with creating artwork and selling to friends, on social sites , working at amusement parks drawing portraits, doing wall murals in homes and graffiti on streets, art has now become a 'second full time job' but art is freedom and to Anthony -art could never be a "job" but a full-time blessing.

Many people own his paintings and other art pieces currently, while some art is in galleries, and designs are being used for websites around eastern Pa. These days Anthony can be found in Collegeville, Pa, still strongly creating; making and selling his own works on popular social websites as well as his website, putting on art/music shows all in cities near the Philadelphia area.

Also now doing Photography at amateur level; his craft in art is constantly expanding to new mediums. Anthony greatly supports local artists and their journey and hopes more kids and adults can learn to practice art regularly. "simply put, its never simply put"
Come see what Anthony T Forbes creates for his month long Fun A Day project at the 3rd and Walnut in Lansdale on Friday February 3rd. To see more of his artwork, click on any of the images above or visit and LIKE his Burning Owl Illustrations page.

Featured Artist Ben Robinson

Ben Robinson studied Fine arts at Montgomery County Community College, and is currently pursuing his BFA at UARTS while residing in Philadelphia.

He is heavily influenced by graffiti, surrealism and skateboarding. The three have molded the way he views life and creates art. Ben likes to work with a lot of color and detail in his artwork to create a fun bizarre image for the viewer. It is his intent through making art, to keep art fun and create things that have something new for the viewer each time they come back to a piece.

Ben has always liked getting completely lost and sucked into artwork, so he tries to carry that idea into his own artwork.

He likes to work with oils and ink in his pieces but he makes sure not to limit himself to the two. It is Ben's belief that, art's all about expanding and growing so being open to outside influences is very important to him. When he's not painting or drawing he enjoys  skateboarding in and outside of the city and hanging out with good friends and strangers.

Look for him at Lansdale's Fun A Day Show, Friday February 3rd at Lansdale's 3rd and Walnut Bar. Click on any of the images above to see more of Ben's artwork or to his purchase artwork. Please take the time to like his Facebook page.
